12th Governing Body Meeting Inter Islamic Network on Space Sciences & Technology (ISNET)

The 12th Governing Body Meeting (GBM) of Inter Islamic Network on Space Sciences & Technology (ISNET) was held on 26 Mar 2019 at the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for West Asia, Amman, Jordan.

  1. The Meeting was chaired by President ISNET Mr Amer Nadeem who is also Chairman of Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The meeting was attended by officials from COMSTECH, focal point organisations of member states and ISNET Secretariat staff.
  2. President ISNET, being a Chairman of the GBM, delivered the opening statement, in which he extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished delegates. He paid his gratitude to COMSTECH and member States for their support in execution of ISNET's activities. President ISNET highlighted increasing challenges faced by Islamic nations of the world. President ISNET informed the participants that ISNET secretariat is fully committed in working out the challenges being faced today and anticipated/future line of action for making ISNET more vibrant and dynamic. President ISNET emphasized that meaningful progress and more effective participation from member states is need of the hour. Delegates from member countries also delivered statements.
  3. The Governing Body approved the agenda of the meeting which included, inter alia, Activity Report by the Executive Director ISNET; initiation of technical projects from ISNET platform, approval of 12 x technical projects, formulation of steering and Evaluation Committee for execution of technical projects; ways and means of promoting and expanding the scope of the network's activities; approval of ISNET annual budget for the biennium 2019-20 and confirmation of its audit reports for the period CY 2017-18.
